Abstract: | More than 20 spp. were detected in the fauna of cyclostomatous Bryozoa collected by the "Calypso" expedition. A new family is created: Crisuliporidae, for the genus Crisulipora Robertson, 1910. New species described and illustrated are: Crisia ficulnea, Filisparsa(?) calypso, Nevianipora borgi, Idmidronea foresti, Tubulipora brasiliensis, Platonea denticulata and Diaperoecia marcusi. The validity of genera such as Pustulopora Blainville, Mecynoecia Canu and Filisparsa d'Orbigny is discussed. Bathymetric and geographical distribution of species and the influence of the nature of substrates and sea-bottom are shown. Apparently a cold fauna with magellanic affinities exists in the estuary of the Rio de la Plata as well as a Brazilian fauna with subtropical affinities. The latter comprises > 20 spp. to date and their biogeographical affinities are discussed |
